Cork International Airport is one of
the fastest growing regional airports in Europe. Dating
from 1961, when the first plane landed, Cork Airport has
had an interesting history. Today it has facilities for
passengers equal or better then most airports of
comparable size in the world. Situated in the beautiful
South of Ireland, just five miles from the city
centre, and with excellent communication links, it is
indeed the airport of the future. In 2003 the
airport will handle over 2.1 million passengers.school

TRANSPORT
By
Taxi There is a taxi rank located
just outside the main terminal. The cost is
approximately €10 from the airport to the city centre
and takes about 15 minutes. A hackney service (private
hire) also operates from the airport and the rates are
displayed at the desk.
By Car Cork
Airport is easily reached by car. Follow the Main N71
Route, 5 miles from the city centre, and follow the
signs on all major routes. The cities Waterford,
Tipperary and Kilkenny are within easy reach via the new
Lee Tunnel.
By Rail Iarnrod
Eireann's regular inter-city train service to and from
Cork has a frequent bus connection from its railway
station to Cork Airport. Train services operate downtown
from Kent station and serve destinations all over
Ireland.
By Bus A frequent
bus service operates from the airport to the city
centre. A daily service is available to and from Cork
city centre with regular departures every 45 minutes. As
for shuttle buses, most major hotels will arrange
pick-ups at the airport.
Parking Short- and long-term parking is
available within the airport, with over 2,800 spaces
available. Special rates are available for frequent
users of the car parking facilities. The car parks
operate daily, year-round. Car key holding facilities
are available from the car park services desk in the
terminal building.

AIRPORT FACILITIES
Money and communications:
Bureaux de change and ATMs are located throughout the terminal. A foreign
exchange currency dispenser is located on the Departures level. There is a
bank on the Departures concourse and a post office in the car park
atrium.
Eating and drinking: There are many good restaurants
and cafes within the airport. Café Kylemore is located on the first floor
and is open from 05:00 to 20:30 and caters to all tastes. The Wild Geese
Bar/Lounge is also located on the first floor and is open from first
arrival until the last departure.
Shopping: At Cork the banking facilities are open from
07:30 to 17:30. The bureaux de change facility operates Monday to Friday
from 06:45 to 20:00. Outside of these hours, there is a currency exchange
machine located on the ground floor. ATM machines are located on the
ground floor and will dispense both sterling and
euro.
Luggage: A left-luggage facility is available in the
atrium of the multi-storey car park. Portage service is available from
Greencaps (tel: (0)1 814 4633).
Other facilities: There is a pharmacy and a free
nursery; baby change facilities are available in most airport
toilets.
DISABLED
FACILITIES Disability assistance Disabled passengers
are well provided for and a 'take to plane' service is available when
required.
AIRPORT HOTELS The Holiday Inn Dublin
Airport (tel: (0)1 808 0500) and Cork Airport Great Southern
Hotel are both located on the airport premises.
